The Toffee Crisp® Story
Toffee Crisp® was created in 1963 thanks to John Henderson, the great-nephew of the toffee king himself, John Mackintosh! Inspired by a cake his wife Edith made for their kids, the first version featured crispy rice pieces and decadent chocolate cake. After a few tasty tweaks, the oozy caramel layer was added. The new and improved treat with its crispy crunch and chewy munch was an instant hit, and the Toffee Crisp® was born!
The Toffee Crisp® was first produced at Mackintosh’s factory in Halifax, but in 2012 it moved to its new home in Newcastle. Over the years, Toffee Crisp gained a loyal fanbase with its great texture and taste. Its popularity grew through the 80s and 90s with its catchy TV ads and the memorable tagline, “Somebody, somewhere is having a Toffee Crisp.”
Today, Toffee Crisp® is a timeless classic, blending crispy cereal pieces, rich caramel, and smooth milk chocolate. It also contains no artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives, and each bar is now made with 100% sustainably sourced cocoa. So, no matter where you are, you can feel good about munching on a Toffee Crisp®!
