When was After Eight® Invented and By Who?

After Eight® first came to market in 1962 and was developed by a confectioner named Brian Sollit of the York confectionery firm, Rowntree’s. Brian rose through the ranks to become Lead Confectioner of the company’s ‘Crème Experimentation’ division. He was tasked with helping to find a solution to wrapping delicate squares of peppermint fondant in fine, dark chocolate.  

What is an After Eight® Made Of?

An After Eight® is made of two key elements: fine, dark chocolate and a peppermint fondant cream centre. Please see individual packs or product pages on our website for specific ingredient lists. 

Is After Eight® Packaging Recyclable?

Please see individual packs for specific recycling instructions. For the 300g carton, the box, envelopes, and inserts can be recycled at home. The outer wrapper film can be recycled alongside other flexible plastics at participating retail stores. 

Is After Eight® Suitable for my Diet?

Our After Eight ® 300g Box is suitable for vegetarians, contains Milk, and may contain Peanuts, Tree Nuts, Egg, and Soya.
Our After Eight® 199g Box is not suitable for vegetarian or halal diets, and contains milk, and may contain peanuts, tree nuts and milk protein.

After Eight® is also free from artificial flavours, colours, or preservatives
